Two mokume gane rings from one piece of metal.

One of Julie's most romantic creations are when she
takes one piece of metal and creates two rings.
This set was made for Curtis and Christen.
We used three diamonds that were passed down in the family
and combines them with Curtis & Christen's birthstones.

Curtis wanted a Mokume band with no gems.

Christen was happy to wear all the bling!

In the video/slide show below there are pictures explaining
the process of making two rings from one piece of metal.
That part starts at 1:38.

Matching Mokume Bands from one piece of metal.

Jose was searching the net for a special ring for Karina.
He found us all the way from Texas.
They liked the idea of Julie making a set of rings from one piece of metal.

Jose wanted his Mokume ring served Straight Up with no stones.
For Karina, we decided to use lab created emeralds and alexandrite.
As they change from red/purple under man made light to green/blue in natural light, the alexandrite provide a nice mix of color to compliment the emerald green.

Whoo-hooo - they loved them

We just heard from Jose:
"Karina and I have been married for almost a year now. We still love our rings. We thought you might enjoy some pictures of the rings."

YES - WE DO ENJOY THESE PICTURES!

Thank you Jose and Karina.
Best of Luck to you.

Sterling silver Mokume Gane earrings.

Julie just made a couple pair of these Mokume earrings.

$69 to $89.

Two Mokume Gane rings in sterling silver.

This ring above has a nice piece of rhodochrosite in a mokume bezel
on a freeform sterling ring. All for $169.00

Julie had some fun with a couple of beautiful pearls. She used
Mokume to set the pearls in the sterling ring she fabricated.
$220.00

Mokume and sterling silver pin with rose gold.

Pictures do not do justice to this pin. Julie used some 5mm wide sterling silver stock to create this pin, then accented it with a Mokume flower and two rose gold beads.
It is roughly 30mm x 30mm. $210.00.

How Julie makes her interlocking rings.

We have all heard the words "two become one" at weddings or commitment ceremonies. Julie decided to craft rings with that concept in mind - she wanted to make two rings that fit together from one piece of metal. Julie starts with one solid piece of metal stock. In the picture below you can see where she has scribed a line in the middle of the sterling silver. Then she traced a circle so that she could put the bezel mounted diamonds within that circle.

This next picture shows the line drawn in red which she will follow with a saw to cut two "rings" from the one piece of stock.

The next picture is of two pieces of mokume that she cut to make a pair of rings. (Mokume is produced by layering copper and sterling silver, combining them under pressure and slicing the metal to get the wood grain look.

One the metal is cut, then the two bands are shaped into rings and made into their respective sizes. This picture shows the top view of the completed sterling silver rings set with round diamonds in white gold bezels.

This picture shows the larger of the two rings on its side.

Here are the completed Mokume rings from the picture above. The larger of the two (above) was to remain a band with no gems while the smaller one below was made with bezel set created alexandrite and emeralds.

Mokume band with bezel set emeralds and alexandrite.

Jose and Korina decided they would like their Mokume rings to be cut from the same metal in the same way Julie makes the interconnecting rings. Korina wanted her ring to be set with created emeralds and alexandrite. The alexandrite changes color - in man-made lighting it is purplish/red and in natural light it becomes green/blue - all of which look great with the Mokume and emerald green.

Jose didn't want any stones - he just wanted a 6mm band to match Korina's.

Cats eye imperial quartz sterling ring with Mokume accents.

I could not get the gorgeous cats eye in this 13.5mm imperial (golden) quartz to photograph. Trust me, this stone has a very lively cats eye - Julie accented the wide silver band with a Mokume bezel and a leaf on the side.

We only have one of these gems - this ring is $395.00.

New Mokume Gane series from Julie Claire DeVoe.

Julie took her inspiration from her favorite time of year in Michigan: Fall. She started with this Mokume bracelet ($209) and had so much fun she continued with a pendant, a ring, and a set of earrings.

The pendant has a little extra something in that she set a natural orange sapphire up at the top. The pendant is $190.00 on a leather cord.

The ring can be yours for $135.00. Julie made a pair of matching earrings - $110.00.

This Mokume is alternating layers of sterling silver and copper which is folded and compressed under extreme pressure - the final result is metal with the grained appearance of wood. Beautiful jewelry!

Could it be the Mokume that makes her smile?

Take a look at Dan & Stephanie - we like BIG SMILES. I like to think Stephanie is smiling because of the extra coolio Mokume Gane earring and pendant set Julie made for Dan to give her on their wedding day.....but I realize the truth of the matter; she is thrilled to be marrying such a considerate guy.
