Matching Mokume Bands from one piece of metal.

Jose was searching the net for a special ring for Karina.

He found us all the way from Texas.

They liked the idea of Julie making a set of rings from one piece of metal.

 

Jose wanted his Mokume ring served Straight Up with no stones.

For Karina, we decided to use lab created emeralds and alexandrite.

As they change from red/purple under man made light to green/blue in natural light, the alexandrite provide a nice mix of color to compliment the emerald green.

 

 

Whoo-hooo - they loved them

 

We just heard from Jose:

Mokume band with bezel set emeralds and alexandrite.

Jose and Korina decided they would like their Mokume rings to be cut from the same metal in the same way Julie makes the interconnecting rings. Korina wanted her ring to be set with created emeralds and alexandrite. The alexandrite changes color - in man-made lighting it is purplish/red and in natural light it becomes green/blue - all of which look great with the Mokume and emerald green.

 Jose didn't want any stones - he just wanted a 6mm band to match Korina's.

Big wide cuff bracelet set with aquamarine, green sapphies, blue sapphires. Three of each are set in bezels.

 Nice big 8mm created green spinel pendant. Yes, she built a pair of earrings that match it - the picture of them didn't look very good.

Big pink opal in a wide sterling band accented with a pink spinel.

Chimera just got some BIG pink gemstones.

Julie has been making rings from some pretty big gemstones lately and customers are liking them. We just purchased some big pink lab grown corrundum (corrundum is the material rubies and sapphires are made of) from Rich, our favorite gem guy. Cool thing about corrundum is that it is extremely durable - a 9 on the Mohs scale puts it second only to diamonds in terms of hardness. Click on the "Lab Grown Gemstones" link on the right of this page to learn more about them.

 The two round ones are $175.00 each. The top stone is 18.70mm and weighs 39.95 carats, the other round one is 20mm and weighs 35.51 carats - this one has a more traditional cut with a bigger table as you can see (the table is the flat part on the top of the gemstone).

This one weighs 60.75 carats and measures 31x16mm. Price $225.00.

Natural unfaceted aquamarine dangling under lab tanzanite.

One of our favorite gemstone guys - Rich - had these pieces of unfaceted natural aquamarine. Julie had to have them! She suspended them in sterling underneath these 8x10mm oval lab created tanzanite for a smashing combination of natural and lab grown gems - $365.00.

One of a kind lab grown padparadschah sapphire ring in Argentium sterling.

Julie took a little time from the repair work that fills her days to create this ring. The argentium sterling is 14mm wide - the ring is a size 7, but could go up or down a 1/2 size.

The main attraction is the created padparadschah sapphire.

Just for fun and extra bling, Julie bezel set a diamond under the point of the sapphire!

Lab created tanzanite in a custom ring and pendant.

This sterling ring features a 12x15 oval lab created tanzanite accented

by two little diamonds and a bead of 14kt yellow gold.

Julie mounted a 10x10 square cut lab created tanzanite

in this Argentium sterling pendant.

Her "old" diamonds born again in a new ring.

Julie took diamonds from two different older settings and combined them with a big round created alexandrite in this white gold ring. Now, instead of languishing in a drawer (neglected and alone!) the diamonds will be out on the town and sparkling!

Trying to capture the beauty of these emerald cut lab created tanzanite gemstones was more than a little frustrating. This was the best image after many attempts and it doesn't do justice to these gemstones. The earrings can be yours for $239.00 and the pendant is only $185.00.

Here is a brand new piece. Julie took a big piece of lab created padparadscha sapphire crystal (it takes them 3 months to grow crystals big enough to harvest and facet) and surrounded it with Mokume Gane. We bought this crystal directly from Chatham laboratories in California.

Notice she accented it with a round faceted padparadscha.
